Yareli Cervantes Perez

As ASB president and a Chelsea’s Light Peer Corps counselor at the Preuss School, Yareli has led her community with poise and dignity. Despite the demands of her own academic and extracurricular pursuits, she has committed herself to ensuring that younger students both in her school and her community are supported and that their voices are heard. Yareli will be attending UC Berkeley in the fall as the first member of her family to go to college. Standing only 5’1” tall, she towers above her peers in sensitivity, sense of self, and ambition. Yareli started a chess club at her local library without knowing the first thing about how to play chess, showcasing her commitment to her community as well as her conviction that she has the heart and power to lead change. We look forward to seeing where that dedication and confidence will take her in the future.
