As kids go back to school, we are reminded that our foundation is all about our kids. Chelsea’s Light started with one student and now we have the power to protect them (Chelsea’s Law) and enhance their education with our Sunflower scholarships.
Fittingly, our September 2017 Changemaker® of the month, Katie Sjolund is a 7th grade student from Oceanside, CA. Katie enjoys reading, writing and art. She got involved with Chelsea’s Light through her devotion to Princess Guides program.
CLF: How did you get involved with CLF?
KS: Last year I learned about Finish Chelsea’s run, and was excited to join the event. Together with some friends, we decided to put together a team called, The Bear Princesses which wound up having 121 participants
CLF: How many years have you been involved with CLF?
CLF: What do you do/done for CLF?
KS: I was the leader of a team in the Finish Chelsea’s Run.
CLF: What is your vision of CLF 5 years from now?
KS: I would like to see California’s laws that protect children used in more states.
CLF: Are you involved in any other organizations?
KS: I have participated in over 20 different community service events including recycling events, shoe drives, beach clean ups, senior homes, feeding the homeless, and tree plantings but I can connect to this one the most.
Chelsea’s Light Changemaker® is defined by Katie Sjolund and all who are passionate about providing the joy and innocence of childhood though an engaged community.
