November starts the holiday season. Chelsea’s Light is so thankful for all our Changemakers® that amazes us every month. This year we had our first Extern Law Student to write our annual Chelsea’s Law Impact Report, Cameron Stowers. Cameron was exemplary as our first Law Student Extern. He is responsible for this years Chelsea’s Law Impact Report. We are very proud and grateful for volunteering his time.
Here is some more personal information on Cameron.
Family status:
Two parents, Ian and Debra
Two brothers, Kyle and Ryan
One sister, Amanda
Profession:
Law Student at UCLA School of Law
Where do you reside?
Los Angeles, CA
How did you get involved with CLF?
I was not aware of the CLF and all the great work it had done the past few years until I came across an opening for an externship on the USD School of Law career services website last year. After learning more about Chelsea and CLF, I was touched by the King family’s resilience and continued efforts to protect communities and children across California. I saw the opportunity to get involved and I am grateful I was given the chance to help with the Impact Report.
How many years have you been involved with CLF?
4 months.
What do you like best about Chelsea/CLF?
I love the focus on joy and positivity that permeates everything the CLF does and engages in, from the Sunflower Scholarship Fund, to Home Run for Chelsea, to Finishing Chelsea’s Run. I think that the positive spirit of the CLF is contagious in the community and the further it spreads, the better. As my mom likes to say, “It’s all about the LOVE!”
What do you do/done for CLF?
I wrote the Chelsea’s Law Impact Report for 2017.
What is your vision of CLF 5 years from now?
I envision a broader reach to protect more communities, so some form of Chelsea’s Law being passed in other states. I also cannot wait to see how previous recipients of the Sunflower Scholarship impact their own communities as those students graduate college in the coming years.
Are you involved in any other organizations? Past/Present?
Most recently I volunteered last year at the San Diego Clean Slate Clinic during my first year in law school. This year I am mostly focused on doing as well as I can in school. I look forward to continuing to help out with the CLF in any way that I can in the future.
What is your definition of a #Changemaker®?
I see a Changemaker as someone who takes initiative in helping others in moments both big and small, and knows that there is never a wrong time to do the right thing.
Hobbies/Interests:
Family. Baseball. Guitar. Meditation.
