Kelly makes the world community her own with intense compassion and fire. Focusing on impoverished communities outside of the United States, Kelly delves so deeply into the cultures she encounters they become her own. Living in a rural village in Fiji, Kelly creatively adapted her skills
to meet the needs of the community – becoming pharmacist, teacher, advocate and friend. It is through these experiences and self-taught knowledge that Kelly has formulated her mature and well-developed understanding of global interactions. Kelly will undoubtedly grow as a face for global equality and justice throughout her time at Mount Holyoke College.
Words I live by:
“The key to your happiness is to own your own slippers, own who you are, own how you look, own your family, own the talents you have, and own the ones you don’t. If you keep saying your slippers aren’t yours, then you’ll die searching, you’ll die bitter, always feeling you were promised more.
Not only our actions, but our omissions, become
our destiny.” Abraham Verghese
