Kathleen Hoskins

High School: High Tech High Chula Vista
College: UC Santa Barbara

For Kathleen Hoskins, changing the world is well within her realm of possibility.  A budding UC Santa Barbara freshman, Hoskins has made an impact in a wide range of areas, motivated simply by the willingness to try.  “It may sound really simple, but the best advice I ever received was to just try anything. Try anything with a positive attitude instead of doing nothing. Try anything instead of never knowing.”  Trying led her to succeed academically at Chula Vista’s High Tech High while also  shining in varsity volleyball, as a student ambassador, mentor for freshmen, member of the YMCA youth government program and founder of the Earth Service Corps, a campus environmental club.  Kathleen has already declared her major in biopsychology at UCSB, has joined the Pre-Health Sorority Rho Psi Eta and despite biking by the Santa Barbara beach every day on her way to school, has yet to actually take a “day at the beach.”  We wish Kathleen great success in her studies as well as some fun in the sun!

Words I live by-
“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
