High School: Ramona High School
College: UC Los Angeles
Caitlin Choy was chosen for the singular “Sparkle” scholarship of $10,000 and sparkle she does. Ask Caitlin about the power of hope and she bubbles over with excitement. It was that spark and excitement for life that made Caitlin a stand-out student. In addition to captaining the cross country, track and Academic League teams, Caitlin was involved in student government and co-founded her school’s Invisible Children Club. As a senior she earned the Girl Scouts’ prestigious Gold Award for the fitness education program she developed for a local Ramona elementary school. An exemplary high school student, Caitlin now has her sights set on medical school and is majoring in biology. One of her former counselors used four words to describe Caitlin – courage, charisma, compassion and character. We think she reminds us of another “c” word – Chelsea.
Words I live by:
“I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and I love today.” – William Allen White
