Challenges come to all of us at some point, and for Bradley it came at the age of 13 when his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. While most kids were carefree and busy playing, Bradley was taking on extra family responsibilities and using his experiences to step up and support other children of cancer patients or kids whose parents had passed away from the disease. The Camp Director of Kids Konnected was so impressed with Bradley’s leadership and compassionate listening that he was asked to become a youth leader for the group and founded the San Diego Chapter of the organization. Even with these responsibilities Bradley still had time to be a peer buddy for the Best Buddies Program, which fosters friendships with people with intellectual disabilities, play high school soccer for four years, and perform with his school drum line and concert band. Bradley continues to shine despite the weather at Western Washington University and is of course working to launch a Kids Konnected program near his campus.
